High-Speed Signal Processing

Image reject mixers with 4 octave frequency range

High speed modulators and demodulators

The superior performance characteristics of the Furaxa pulser/sampler make it an ideal building block for complex and accurate real-time processing of rapidly acquired or synthesized samples. The pulser/sampler makes advanced architectures in signal processing, amplification, equalization and mixing economically practical to develop at much higher frequencies than formerly possible. For example, the Furaxa pulser/sampler enables the next generation of frequency mixers and modulators, correlators, microwave amplifiers and almost any other linear and non-linear signal processing system.

Microwave Image-Reject Mixers

Conventional microwave image-reject mixers used to convert a RF signal into a near baseband signal typically have less than an octave in bandwidth over which they can operate. In contrast, an advanced image-reject mixer incorporating the Furaxa pulser/sampler can operate over a four octave frequency range.

High Speed Modulators/Demodulators

Currently, high speed optical channels are distorted by dispersion and attenuation that smear the impulse response of the communication link and require channel equalizers to optimize performance. Conventional technology is prohibitively costly and complex to implement an optimal equalizer architecture. However, an architecture incorporating the Furaxa pulser/sampler is significantly less costly and easier to implement thereby permitting the optimal architecture to be employed to produce superior performance.

Directly synthesized pulse train for optical SERDES

The direct synthesis/sampling of the Furaxa pulser/sampler can form the basis of a low power, inexpensive 40 gigabit per second optical SERDES.
