Direct modulation, synthesis and sampling of waveforms up to 100GHz eliminates the need for up-conversion and down-conversion synthesizer stages in most satellite communications systems. Such direct conversion transmitters and receivers can significantly reduce the costs of manufacturing the next generation of satellite communication equipment.
