Test & Measurement Instrumentation

The advanced performance characteristics of the Furaxa pulser/sampler enable the next generation of test and measurement instrumentation such as AWGs capable of more than 50 gigasamples per second and direct sampling oscilloscopes with greater than 25 GHz analog bandwidth.

High Speed Single Shot Oscilloscopes

High Speed Arbitrary Waveform Generators

Time Domain Reflectometers

Multi-Gigahertz Direct Sampling Oscilloscopes

Single-shot, full-bandwidth 50GHz direct sampling capability enables several DSO applications in the test and measurement market. Incorporated into test and measurement instrumentation, the Furaxa pulser/sampler will form the basis of a new class of test equipment for the emerging markets of high-speed wireless, wireline, and optical communications.

High Speed Arbitrary Waveform Generators

The unparalleled control and flexibility of pulse amplitude, position and duration offered by the Furaxa pulser/sampler IC permit direct synthesis of complex burst and continuous waveforms at greater than 50 Gigasamples per second. The unique circuit architecture of the pulser/sampler allows individual pulses to be dynamically modulated providing an unmatched ability to generate up to 25GHz of non-repetitive spectral content.

Time Domain Reflectometers

Whether incorporated into the front end of an advanced standalone piece of TDR test equipment or embedded into a 10-Gigabit Ethernet chip as a high performance, low-cost TDR module for channel monitoring, Furaxa’s pulse generation and sampling technology enables a range of TDR solutions that were previously technically or financially prohibitive.

With the ability to inexpensively and precisely generate low-jitter pulses and sampling apertures on the order of 20pS, the front end of a high performance TDR application becomes inexpensive to implement. When combined with supporting digital logic, a low-cost, high-performance TDR solution can be incorporated as an on-chip solution into Gigabit Ethernet and other wireline communication chips. The performance of such a module would yield channel characterization and monitoring far exceeding current on-chip capabilities.
